Bralbaard Nilthatlosh Åm, known in the common tongue as Bralbaard Hammerfishes the Yawning (b. Granite 28, 638, d. 712, resurrected) is a ♂ dwarf and the third known incarnation of Bralbaard in the form of a ♂ dwarf to start a museum, this time in Thoramunosh, Orid Xem, as well as the 29th King of Adilatír since 805.
First death[]
“ | I am sorry to have to tell you that Bralbaard did not make it. He wanted to go chat with the nobles, which has never been my strong point, so Tishak and I were going to wait outside the keep. He also left his bagage with us, which is why I am able to write this.
Just moments after Bralbaard entered the keep it happened. A truly massive demon broke out of the castle, shattering the doors and walls. It must have been hiding in the keep by some dark magic. The thing was enormous, with a neck and tail both the length of a guard tower, and legs the size of highwood trunks. It opened its mouth and liquid fire poored out, engulfing the entire entrance in a deadly blaze. Bralbaard was still inside, and the monster charged back in through the destroyed entrance. I swear I tried to go after him, but the fire at the entrance was too intense, there was just no way to enter. Inside the battle raged for minutes, but Bralbaard never made it out. I am deeply sorry we could not prevent this, all I could do was to bring his journal here, to the museum, so that others can read his stories. |
” |
On the Moonstone 12, 712, Bralbaard was struck down by the charcoal brute Pis Ethbaoxut in Mabkor. Forty-two years later, he would be unwillingly resurrected as a Dark One by the adventurer and master necromancer Urus Tacnuomsos.
Though stripped of his former emotions and rendered frail by the dark magic used to revive him, Bralbaard would reach the conclusion that his fate should not befall the other fallen adventurers of the Museum. To this end, with the aid of two of his former traveling companions, he would found the site of Oburmondûl (Herograves) - a large encampment not too far from the Museum itself, where the bodies of dead adventurers could be laid to rest.
Rags to King to Rags[]
“ | To His Majesty Bralbaard Nilthatlosh Åm
Your humble servant wishes to congratulate you on your ascension to the Throne of our great civilization. May the blessing of the Gods and of Armok himself guide Your rule in wisdom and may we benefit from Your guiding hand for the rest of the world's existence. Though I cannot claim its creation, I submit the anthem of a nation from a distant realm as fitting for your ascension. May that it be of use to you and resound Your greatness to this world and beyond. https://www.youtube.com/embed/ykpDQhWlrBQ You have made history, Your Grace! The world rejoices as it has seldom before! ALL HAIL KING BRALBAARD! |

With the death of the 28th King of Adilatír in 805, Bralbaard was called to the capital to take his place. He did so to the joy of the populace, but confronted with the 825 massacre, he fled Ilrallenod and returned to his favorite pastime: adventuring. On Hematite 22 he adopted the cat Cog Datannimar. It tragically survived 4 days into its adoption, slayed by a dingo, which Bralbaard avenged. He went on to slay some goblins and rescue another, made three new goblin companions, then retired in Thoramunosh.
The King is Dead, Long Live the King![]
On Sandstone 11, 855 the 6 year-old fortress Sethurdim Mestthos Oram has the surprise of having their former King arrive not simply to visit and impart royal honors, but to work hand in hand on the building of the fortress. How many inhabitants recognize him is arguable, but on Hematite 3, 856 he is chosen to become the settlement's Militia Commander. He lives contently there, until Granite 9, 858 when, the very day the Overseer leaves, Stragdamsto attack in the battle remembered as Okutu Olngö of the centuries-long Uspenaslez. Bralbaard is reported dead, to go as far that his position is given to another dwarf, but those present, including King Avolition Moncadem of Stalconpesor and fellow adventurer of the Museum, confirm his continued existence in a manner not known until then in Orid Xem.
On Opal 5, 876 Bralbaard was once again slayed, this time by the besieging ettin Zoku Raneibu and some time later, was returned to Jasro Rithod, where he was returned to life by Urus Tacnuomsos 16 days later. Interestingly, Sethurdim Mestthos Oram now consider him officially dead too and even made a slab to appease his spirit.
Pets[]
Bralbaard has had several pets in his history of existence and adventures, but much of their history is still a mystery.
Mestthos Evonstâkud[]
Mestthos "Lovermachines" Evonstâkud (b. 694, d. 713) was a ♂ horse. He was first mentioned in Bralbaard's chronicles on the founding of the Museum. On Slate 11, 713 he died of old age in Abnecar.
Cog Datannimar[]
Cog "Ironpath" Datannimar (b. 820, d. 825) was a ♀ cat. She was adopted by Bralbaard on Hematite 22, 825 and tragically died merely 4 days later to the ♂ dingo Tinantusung in Covema Mothida. While she would be avenged that very day, Bralbaard later admitted that he forgot all about his feline companion and only much later recollected her former presence and her subsequent disappearance.
Shattering of mind and body[]
- Main article: Successors of Bralbaard Nilthatlosh
With the proliferation of necromancers through the adventurers of the Museum, who nominally consider themselves under Bralbaard's tutelage and Bralbaard's several deaths, body parts of the former King have been floating around Orid Xem, some of which were retrieved and were said to either contain miraculous abilities or were raised as undead by necromancers.
