Moldath Leshaltölún Kíddir, known in the common tongue as Moldath Mournsaints the Ardent (b. 728), nicknamed "The Blind Sadist" is the most prolific adventurer of the Museum along Avolition Moncadem since the 9th century.
As of the 850s, he became the killer of most creatures, either of named or unnamed ones at 4147 kills, most of which were goblins, as well as the AotM with the most kills in all The Museum worlds. He is also notable for slaying 4 rocs, including millennial Calovi Rifanithe, quincentenarians Dat Exxob, Lefari Arílemawada and the last living roc Ngomstu Stasnostrobnod. He has gone out of his way to end the Omon blight, participating in (and some claim activating) the 826 massacre. He is also responsible for the deaths of at least two forgotten beasts, Thol Zebermuz and Ozob Stulagu and several demons.
Though a self-titled slayer of monsters, he has killed creatures who had loved ones and more gray morality, such as the Dark Elven Queen of Ribiromimi, Vafice Falethefama.
He is believed to be the reason the world entered The Golden Age. He claims to be an exclusive worshiper of Ala[1]. He believes he is the reincarnation of Dishmab Iroldeduk of Mudungudon.
His third submission to the Museum was the skull of the giantess Âtast Ustzatthud, slayed and skinned by himself.
He is the first adventurer recorded to personally invade Hell through an adamantine spire at the heart of a goblin civilization and survive to return to the surface, in this case Mestthos Nil raised by Egu Odanez Exzas Otsmor of Nusmzolak.
Moldath is recorded in the Museum records to have died and been resurrected twice: both under well controlled circumstances by Moldath himself to further his goals. The first was to complete the mad monkey Raki Shedoshgabat's prophecy and learn more of the domain of death. The second was in 899 with the purpose to escape his binding as a Broker of Eskôn. The same year, after various actions, he has become unviewable in both The Great White Tome and The Great Rainbow Tome. While this has some scholars attempt to correct this issue, it is perhaps telling that other scholars are grateful his corruption only extended to his own entry. He can still be accessed in The Great Black Tome and obviously The Grey Tome, as well as in part versions of the former two and in the current entries of other entities that interacted with Moldath even in the corrupted versions.
He ruled for a short period in 899 as King of Adilatír before being ousted in unknown circumstances the same year. In 943 he had a proud son Stukos Vabôkuthmik with Sodel Ekastnish through mystical means; House Anthad was molified.[2]
History[]
Arrival in 807[]
He first wakes up in Dokrusmo Loz Egkast without any clothing, a steel whip, Dishmab the bat and the giant lion Limulsinsot, which he finds abandoned and strewn with mangled corpses. His first encounter with a fellow AotM was Galka Linarad. In Zemellegu he has his first encounter with blighted thralls, where he gains his epithet from Justicar Sporro Padomarbok.
In the abbey of Gospoamec, he rolls the die of Dunem Meteosman and receives as pet the giant cougar ♂ Caquoacuquimo, known in the common tongue as Rustpuzzling. In Nenistruslot he encountered his first demon, a clear brute which he does not risk fighting, so he runs from it only to encounter his first shadow creature, Bothonfenok Ashmôn, which he does slay. In Mitaedri, he loses his newest companion to a blighted human miner and almost loses his life to a multiple blighted thrall assault, only saved by entering a battle trance specific to the dwarven race after he takes a steel arrow to his chest and another to his leg.
Encounter with death barely averted and with arrowheads still troubling his ribs and leg, he decides to leave blighted Omon Obin lands, arrives on Limestone 8 in Bothon Instol, but only finding uninteresting humans there, he continues his journey. The next day he stumbles into Onruusa, the roc lair of 5 of their kind, slaying Lefari Arílemawada, Dat Exxob and Calovi Rifanithe. Two days later he arrives in Darosinen Avuz Datan, believing it to be abandoned. On Limestone 12 he arrives to Cog Omristducim's tower and the next day meets the famous decapitated dwarf necromancer herself, which attacks him, forcing him to end her permanently. He then traverses the plains of lost Tathbom before arriving in Akurubbul. In Nenigamo, he rolls the die of Rogon Shedosh, which give him the adamantine mittens Saneraepe and Muthkatunib Zoniden. Despite the value of the gifts, Moldath was enraged, for they would only fit a human - and so he rolled the die again and again until he was cursed with vampirism.
After culling many goblins and blighted thralls, on Limestone 23 he arrives in Datanzalìs Stinugosh, where he is likely infected with Moldath's rot. In Irneoxa, he meets Nom Shokmug from which he learns of the Museum's location of Thoramunosh, where he arrives on Limestone 24 and leaves the skull and roc eggs of Calovi Rifanithe, as well as the mittens and three scrolls which hold the secrets of immortality.
807-826[]
On Limestone 26, 807 he settled in Torishîton Ineth Lam, but on Malachite 14, 811 he arrived in Bomreklogem and on Malachite 23, 818 in Zustashmisttar Koshosh Nekut. There, he had a complicated relationship with the dwarves of Zustashulengmigrur. On Galena 26 he became a scholar and on Timber 21 began an apprentanship under Momuz Ninurònul. Between Sandstone 3 and Malachite 8 he drank dry 5 dwarves and he was discovered on Timber 28, when he was convicted of murder and sentenced to 100 hammerstrokes and over a year imprisonment. The Overseer, recognizing him as a Museum asset, forgave the hammerstrokes, but upon his release in 824 he slayed 2 more dwarves in his bloodlust. During his imprisonment, he authored 2 books. On Malachite 15, 825 he was elected as Baron of Adilatír following the 825 massacre, though he did not leave for the capital.
Relations[]
Avolition Moncadem[]
Avolition Moncadem is an AotM scorpion man contemporary with Moldath and they are great rivals in their fields and actions. Moldath had at one point decided to learn all secrets of immortality in the world of Orid Xem and was appalled when he learned Avolition's goal is the same. They have been rivals for this and number of kills since they learned of each other. Moldath has called Avolition "evil" several times, though when they finally met sometimes around 15-18 Slate 899 in Nimulenge, Moldath stayed his hand from a physical conflict, respecting founder of the Museum in Thoramunosh Bralbaard Nilthatlosh that any AotM should stay their hand of attacking a fellow AotM lest in self-defense or ignorance of the other's status.
Caquoacuquimo[]
Caquoacuquimo, known in the common tongue as Rustpuzzling (b. 802, d. 807) was a ♂ giant cougar. It was given to Moldath after he rolled a die of Dunem Meteosman in the abbey of Gospoamec. On Limestone 5, 807 he struck down the human ♂ Pavi Odataÿivu. The next day, he was struck down by the human blighted thrall ♀ Batow Amecrith with a bronze battle axe in Mitaedri, who in turn was slayed the same day by Moldath.
Dishmab the bat[]
Dishmab was a bat companion Moldath arrived with in Orid Xem. Its fate remains unknown.
Kajeth Sutargogol[]
Kajeth Sutargogol was a ♂ human swordsman AotM Ala worshiper manipulated by Moldath while under a false name to kill and resurrect him, so that Moldath may gain more unholy power and escape the Rot. With the success of the tasks, Moldath revealed himself, prompting Kajeth to attack him. As should be obvious, the human was easily dispatched.
Kikrost Órnomal[]
Kikrost Órnomal was a ♂ dwarf and the original expedition leader of Eskôn. This became relevant with Moldath's arrival there and killing several dwarves in his thirst for blood. The situation was made more interesting and intriguing in that, although he came under a false name, Moldath openly admitted to be a necromancer. When Kikrost used his abilities to resurrect Moldath's victims, they immediately pointed to him and he was imprisoned and sentenced to 150 hammerstrokes. As this was happening, the archives were scoured and the scholars discovered to their horror Moldath's true identity. Horror because at the time, they were ruled by founder of the Museum in Thoramunosh and now King of Adilatír Bralbaard Nilthatlosh; Bralbaard had given specific instruction that, wherever possible, adventurers of the Museum, such as Moldath was recognized world-wide, are not to be harmed unless in self-defense. Kikrost had further personal interest, a dabbler in the secrets of eternal life himself, to learn something that both a necromancer and vampire had to teach. With all these reasons, both overt and covert, Kikrost had easily pull to postpone the hammering indefinitely, helped by Eskôn's already existing tradition that no Hammerers are to be appointed in the presence of an Overseer. It is said for the years of imprisonment, Moldath was even cured of his afllictions, though temporarily in the grand scheme of things, and Kikrost visited him often, trying to coax more secrets from Moldath.
Moldath, in exchange, appears to have been ungrateful, claiming the hammers did strike - an impossibility, for even he wouldn't have survived such unrigged violence. He forgot Kikrost's kindness and even refused the claim that he was ever cured during his time in Eskôn. Moldath even claimed he was bound by curse to Eskôn, though he could leave at any time, and went as far as to kill his own body for a second time and bring it back to "unbind" himself from Eskôn. The Eskônites and Iroramits, as both fortresses existed under the augur of Lurker Onecbehal, with Kikrost and Rovod Likotfeb corresponding during their times, have been bitter towards Moldath's slander since.
Limulsinsot[]
“ | His hair is tan. His skin is burnt amber. His eyes are gold. | ” |
Limulsinsot, known in the common tongue as Goldclaw (b. 801, d. 899) was a ♂ giant lion who arrived with Moldath and Dishmab in Dokrusmo Loz Egkast where he slayed the goblin ♀ Smunstu Matosledås on Galena 27, 807. At some point, he parted from Moldath. He eventually died of old age on Slate 7, 899 in Tholronstiz Urdim Vir.
Moldath's rot[]
Moldath's rot is a special type of rot that afflicted Moldath, likely from fighting demons and ingesting their blood in Datanzalìs Stinugosh. The rot risked taking his life several times, despite by that time becoming immortal both through vampirism and necromancy. Since then, the rot wanes and waxes in his body. Avolition Moncadem has questioned at the dawn of 10th century: "Is he even him or just the rot gained sapience?" The rot has been attempted to be contained at least three times, once by Kikrost Órnomal in Eskôn.
