Mudungudon

Mudungudon (The Portentous Domain) was a Dwarf Fortress world, spanning until at least the year 1190. It is most notable for being used for The Museum: Adventure mode succession world.

Geography

The world is divided in three continents: one in the west, one in the east and the smallest at the south-east. The two major continents are strangely connected by the appropriately named Nebo Abpa, The Prairie of Combinations. The world is surrounded by Cishsota, The Ashen Ocean, a truly gigantic, little-explored wealth of water.

Climatically, the world is at its hottest in the north, and its coldest in the south.

Points of interest

Barely started in 1050s, the greatest monument to Mudungudon must be The Museum. As the world's inhabitants started dying off, never to repopulate it again, leaving only the dark creatures and the elves to survive it, two groups remained to catalogue and explore the world, until many of them, too, tired of a dying world around the 1190s: dwarves and adventurers. Thus, for better or worse, Quehlico became the center of the world.

Seconded that, Nebo Abpa, The Prairie of Combinations, is notable for linking the western and eastern continents into a near-total land mass of the world.

History

The End of Mudungudon

Historians agree that the End of Mudungudon started in 1050-1051, though the reasons are mostly unknown. From this time, much stagnated: civilizations movements stopped, most creatures no longer bred, even megabeasts ceased most of their movements.

The first recorded acknowledgement of this event was in the journal of the first dwarf adventurer of the Museum Reg Ducimvod.

The world however kept trudging, pushed about by the inherent magic of the adventurers of the Museum and of dwarf fortresses. However, with the arrival of the 12th century, matters became more and more dire. The Death Curse of Adventurers hit more and more often, sometimes depopulating entire settlements by their mere presence. In contrast, places unvisited by adventurers left its creatures in a strange state of immortality and limbo: unable to die peacefully, yet unable to progress.

A great hit to the world was also the erasing of the emblem and statute of a nation of the first civilization Udarmeng. Adventurers of the Museum, the only creatures able to traverse the world any longer, reported more and more disturbances in the world, even as they slayed creatures that attacked them or that they were sent to, or simply for loot, lessening the world more and more.

In the closing years of the 12th century, an ad-hoc decision was made for the world to be abandoned by the adventurers for the newly discovered living world of Teyo Ametha.
